The Six Best Places to Watch Fireworks this 4th of July
Whether you are on the East End or in city, make sure you don’t miss dazzling fireworks this 4th of July.
With Fourth of July just around the corner, we are here to help you find the best spots on the East End and New York City to watch fireworks this year. Whether you are spending the day by the pool, at the beach, on a boat, or just relaxing at home, few things can beat fireworks at night on the Fourth of July. From carnivals, with hot dog eating contests, to casual picnics on the beach, here are our top picks for this year’s firework shows in New York City and the Hamptons.
New York City
The 43rd Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular: If you are in Manhattan or Brooklyn, look up in the sky this 4th of July to see more than 75,000 shells launch during Macy’s 43rd Annual 4th of July firework show. The show will begin at 9:20 p.m. on Thursday night, and not one minute later, so don’t be late. Find a spot with an unobstructed view of the sky from the lower part of the East River or below the Brooklyn Bridge, or head to one of these official viewing points.
Coney Island: It’s an all day affair on Coney Island this Fourth of July. Start your day of celebration by watching (or competing in) Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at 10:00 a.m. and end your day watching the Steeplechase Spectacular Fireworks Show. The fireworks will go off at the Riegelmann Boardwalk at 9:50 p.m.
Rockaway Inlet: Escape the craziness in the city this 4th and head to Rockaway Inlet for a day of fun in the sun. Hang out at the beach all day and head to the Bayside after dark on Friday, July 5th to watch this year’s 4th of July firework show. The show will likely begin around 9 p.m. so make sure you find a good spot to watch!
The East End
Greenport Fire Department’s Annual Carnival & Fireworks: Head to the Polo Grounds on Moores Lane in Greenport from Tuesday, July 2nd to Saturday, July 6th for the Greenport Fire Department’s 46th annual Carnival. There will be rides, games, food, raffles, and, of course, fireworks, which you will not want to miss. Firework shows will be at 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 4th, and Saturday, July 6th.
Southampton’s Fresh Air Homes 32nd Annual American Picnic with Fireworks by Grucci: Have fun this Fourth, and help a good cause. Fresh Air Home’s annual celebration is a major source of fundraising for the organization’s camp for children with physical disabilities. The carnival will feature games, stilt walkers and magicians, a delicious picnic, dancing, and wonderful fireworks.
Sag Harbor Yacht Club Fireworks Celebration: Pack a picnic basket and bring a blanket to Marine Park or Haven’s Beach, or even come by boat, to enjoy this year’s show. Fireworks will begin on Saturday, July 5th at approximately 9:30 p.m.
