Since people are always asking me about real estate and lifestyle matters, we introduced a light and fun monthly Q&A about all sorts of topics.
Do the Hamptons warm up sooner than in previous years, and should people come out before traditional season?
“It is an evolving phenomenon that very much depends year to year. I always state that activity during this time of the year depends on weather. There needs to be a compelling reason to fly up north.”
If I’m interested in building a new home or renovating my existing home, when is the best time to secure a construction firm/contractor?
“There always seems to be a push to get clients into their homes for season. With that understanding, getting the attention of a contractor may be better served sometime between spring and into the fall for the following year.”
How will the California wildfires affect home inventory and prices in the Hamptons for sales and summer rentals?
“The jury is still out on this question as we have received only a couple of inquiries from our top broker relationships in that region. For the most part, this has been a question coming from our clients.”
My thoughts on the new Southampton Playhouse.
“I was very impressed, it’s been an anchor of our village forever. I am pleased that it will reactivate that business district in time for season.”
Best indoor activities for rainy days in late winter and early spring.
“Buckskill Winter Club is a fun afternoon for sure. The Church, Parrish Art Museum and galleries are all good choices too.”
My favorite local walk to get a breath of fresh air.
“There is a barrier beach in front of my house that runs along Peconic Bay between the mainland and Davis Creek. A walk over our shared bridge and down to the inlet, which feeds in and out of North Sea Harbor, and back makes for a big gulp of fresh salt air.”
