Since people are always asking me about real estate and lifestyle matters, we introduced a light and fun monthly Q&A about all sorts of topics.
My tips for romantic restaurants in the Hamptons.
“The American Hotel, Bridgehampton Inn, Elaia Estiatorio, the Bell & Anchor (a recent new favorite), Vine Street Café and Sant Ambroeus to name a few.”
What I’m watching, reading and listening to this winter.
“Frankly, I haven’t had a lot of screen time or done much reading given the busy work days and detailed planning of the family kitchen with our designer John Bjornen and ITALKRAFT’s Diana Castillo. We finally have the plan ‘just right’ and have begun placing orders for executing this spring. Looking forward to enjoying time in Vermont during the school winter break with my family and grandchildren. I have rented a house on Stratton Mountain, where we can enjoy some memory making snow days together.”
Why the Hamptons has become a destination for second homeowners and visitors for Presidents’ Day Weekend/Winter Break.
“Long gone are the days when we had sleepy winters in the Hamptons. There are any number of activities that one can participate in, plus vast landscapes to enjoy, empty stretches of beach to explore, and wonderful meals prepared by our East End restaurants, most of which remain open.”
Regarding news about New Yorkers leaving the state for tax purposes, has their relocation affected the Hamptons real estate market?
“Our region has forever been a safe haven and has segued into a strong year-round population over the last 20 years as well as one that supports the summer community. Those leaving the state retain their weekend/summer houses for use the other 181 days of the year. We continue to struggle with limited inventory in part due to this pivot, while buyer demand remains very strong.”
