Since people are always asking me about real estate and lifestyle matters, we introduced a light and fun monthly Q&A about all sorts of topics.
Is Presidents’ Day Weekend in the Hamptons a busy time, and what should visitors check out?
“Presidents’ Day Weekend has historically been quite active in our region. Depending on the weather, that could translate to outdoor activities and long beach walks, ice-boat race viewing on Mecox Bay, and a cozy meal in front of the fire at The American Hotel or the Bridgehampton Inn.”
Do you have any helpful advice for people who have lost homes in recent hurricanes, wildfires and other natural disasters who may want to temporarily reside in the Hamptons or find a permanent residence?
“First off, how devastating this must be and the shock is still fresh in people’s minds. I have had clients with homes for sale reach out asking whether I think there will be an influx of West Coast buyers to our market. We certainly have rental and sale inventory to suit the needs in various locations and price ranges.”
How will 2025 inventory compare to previous years?
“We continue to have limited inventory (as a whole), which I think will remain for some time as owners are using their homes more often. However, there are some wonderful properties for sale and buying opportunities with sellers eager to sell. New construction inventory is more readily available. We are already seeing strong interest pre-season with rentals and sales. Most new inventory has come to market for our spring selling season.”
What’s your favorite chocolate shop or bakery in the Hamptons for Valentine’s Day sweets?
“Tate’s Bakery in Southampton still does it the best.”
What’s a good timeline for securing a summer place in the Hamptons? What should people be doing this month to ensure they get the property they want vs. what’s available?
“Now is the time to be reaching out regarding a summer rental for sure.”
Any tips for a cozy winter meal?
“My wife just made an incredible beef stew last night, and I think we need to eat that more often this winter!”
