Since people are always asking me about real estate and lifestyle matters, we introduced a light and fun monthly Q&A about all sorts of topics.
Ham or lamb? Davis family dishes that will appear on our Easter Sunday table.
“My wife is of Greek descent and celebrates Orthodox Easter (which usually falls on a later date than Western Easter), so we’ll definitely have lamb, pasticcio, spanakopita and red eggs as well as desserts like baklava, koulourakia and kourabiedes.”
In case of April showers, my favorite rainy day spots around the Hamptons.
“I love an afternoon at Marders in Bridgehampton or an old classic movie at the Southampton Playhouse’s IMAX theater.”
Is it true that Hamptons inventory will be low this summer? How should I prepare as a seller, buyer or renter?
“I see no factor that would somehow drastically increase our sale inventory for the season. As a seller, I would immediately commence any necessary outdoor work to my yard and house’s exterior and other structures. Freshen trim paint, power wash decks and furniture—those types of action points. Arrange to clean and open the pool in mid-April, so that it’s in swimming condition. Open the tennis court immediately too.”
With the 2026 U.S. Open coming to Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in June, what’s the status on renting my home or renting one for the event?
“Having already experienced four U.S. Opens here (1986, 1995, 2004 and 2018), the inventory has historically been much greater than demand. Several corporate sponsors will use Canoe Place Inn as their home base, which is a welcome addition to the region for many reasons.”
