Newest Estate from Builder John Kean
Tim Davis first experienced 6 Olde Towne Lane as a buyer would.
He pulled through the private security gate and wound up the driveway, parking under the porte-cochère. From there he could see the gorgeous black-lacquered front door, immediately setting the tone for when he stepped inside.
“I saw it as it was going up, but i didn’t see the interior until it was completed,” said Mr. Davis, a licensed associate real estate Broker with Corcoran Group Real Estate. “I had that chance to have that ‘wow’ experience when i walked in the front door. It’s very impressive. It’s raising the bar.”
The entryway of the 23,000-square-foot, traditional-yet-modern manse opens into a two-story grand foyer, with a glass staircase to the right—one of three in the Southampton estate, listed at almost $35 million.
From there, a view through the living room—with its 32-foot ceilings, skylights and a wall of black marble on the fireplace—ends with the outdoor terrace and rolling 3.8-acre backyard, with a sunken and walled fire pit, Deco turf tennis court, pool house and three-car garage.
“In addition to the lawns and garden and perimeter landscaping to create privacy, the pool is one of the largest private pools I’ve seen,” Mr. Davis said. “It’s a pool that has a spa and these two beach areas in it, where there are lounge chairs sitting in the pool.”
Back inside, decorative trim and a coffered ceiling delineate the dining area, which is separated from the traditional kitchen and catering kitchen, which has access to an additional two-car garage. The grey and pale blue color palette seen on the first floor continues to the second, which is home to six of the estate’s nine en suite bedrooms, including the master and its “spectacular” private bath, Mr. Davis said. But it’s on the lower level where the magic truly happens, he said. Featuring a theater, gym, spa area with juice bar, sauna, steam and massage rooms, and an entertainment lounge with a full bar, the most unexpected feature is easily the indoor basketball court.
“This house was built for today’s audience, with all the extras that one could ever imagine having. It’s almost beyond the imagination, if you will, that these features could be in a home,” he said. “The idea of a basketball court alone – I think it’s happened in other parts of the marketplace in other areas, but I’ve only heard of two other indoor basketball courts in other residences on the East End. I’m sure there are more, but they’re very rare. It’s awesome.”
Six fireplaces throughout the home, an elevator and a rooftop putting green only elevate the house further, he said, not to mention the pool house, which includes a lounge, kitchenette, two full baths, a changing room and a terrace.
This is the newest estate from builder John Kean in his luxury Olde Town subdivision. “Lot 6 was a pleasant surprise”, Mr. Davis said, “because it is much different from Lot 7 – a more intimate, 7,000-square-foot home that recently sold for $26 million—as well as Lot 9, which is a grander, voluminous house with a bit more formality, without being stuffy. It has a bowling alley, after all”, he said. It is still on the market for $39.5 million.
“Lot 6 is right in the middle of these two,” Mr. Davis said. “It just has a different appeal to a similar audience, but maybe one that’s looking for something with a bit more of a modern flair to the interior. Often, modern can be cold, but this is modern warm because there are a lot of grey tones used in different decorations and colors of fabric and wall coverings.”
“As it stands now, 6 Olde Town Road is move-in ready. And that, in it of itself, is priceless”, Mr. Davis said.
“To save two and a half years of your life to move into a house like this tomorrow I think has incredible value in itself,” he said. “I think that’s why our marketplace has become so popular and so interested in these new homes. I have to say, Kean Development has knocked it out of the park when it comes to building this kind of product in the Hamptons. It’s getting good attention and they sold one of the houses in this location already. I have no doubt this one will go in no time.”
